Events & Activities

Towny's V11 has officially released, and we couldn't be more excited to be back! With a host of fantastic new features, we're confident you'll love the fresh start and create even more CYT memories. Be sure to check out the full changelog over at here.

Today, we are excited to release our Winter '24 crate! It's packed with fantastic cosmetics to give your equipment a fresh new look, along with cozy furniture items to enhance your holiday builds. This crate will be available until December 28th, so don't miss out on these festive new items!

Over on SMP, we're thrilled to announce the return of the beloved Winter '23 and Christmas crates! Due to the recent rework of our resource pack during Towny's V11 development, the new items are not backwards compatible. In the meantime, we hope you'll enjoy these fan favorites. We're also reworking our texture pack to provide an even better experience across the server. Stay tuned for updates on these exciting changes! These crates will be available until December 28th, so make sure to take advantage and complete your cosmetic collections while they're here!

Join in on the holiday fun with our limited-time minigame: Grinch Simulator! Explore the scenic new map and gather as many presents as you can within the timeframe to win!

Community Spotlight

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, our spotlight is a little bit different this time around. This month's community spotlight is a special celebration of some of the incredible builds and communities created during the V10 lifespan. While it’s impossible to mention each and every one, below is a snapshot of some of the highlights from this version:

Town: New Devorn by bananapowers
“New Devorn, a postmodern town on CYT's mainland, boasted the largest mall in the region. Initially founded to occupy a spot in the nation of Estrias, it was left incomplete in V10 due to a late start. The town featured a skyscraper, a few homes, and a park, and had plans for much more. As a shopping town, New Devorn prided itself on offering a variety of shops around every corner. Rising from the ashes of Astoria/Cheshire, New Devorn played a vital role in Estrias. It stood as one of the nation's more active towns, and also hosted the national bank, providing free items to players in need. Schematics are being developed to expand New Devorn in V11, promising even greater growth.”

"MadHatters was renowned for having one of the largest collections of skins and cosmetics in V10. Founded by PiousDuty and logicaleman, this family-run establishment also received significant contributions from their friend lunarsunnie. This collaboration made MadHatters a vibrant and essential part of the community, offering a snapshot of the wide array of unique cosmetics players enjoyed."

“A final celebration for all the time and money spent on the server collecting cosmetics. This place held a vast array of cosmetics, thanks to the generous donations from multiple players. Although it might not typically be considered a highlight, it stands as a major spotlight and a testament to the time players have invested and enjoyed in V10.
The largest (self-proclaimed) storage of V10. This storage started as a blank canvas at the beginning of V10 and gradually evolved into a masterpiece. It has progressed from hand sorting to 90% auto-sorting, with only the most exclusive items not yet sorted. It is our proudest project from all of V10.”

Town: WhiteChapel by Icaka
“Our town hall, inspired by the iconic Hermitage building in Russia, boasted a truly unique exterior that stood out from everything else. While I wish it could have been larger, I was limited by the available space.”

Player Warp: /pw Mwah by Am1y
“Mwah was a shopping staple throughout the version, renowned for its extensive inventory and vibrant, pink-themed decor. Founded by Am1y, it became a go-to destination for players, offering nearly every item imaginable, down to the last type of button. Its unique charm and comprehensive selection made it a beloved spot for all shopping enthusiasts.”

Town: Pittsburgh by PugHugJug
“The city of Pittsburgh, also known as the "Steel City," featured a modern American aesthetic with beautiful bridges, sprawling hills and rivers, and magnificent skyscrapers. The city was constructed in memory of its founder and dear friend, builderbill1258, to honor the real-life city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The town was open to all, and everyone on CYT is a friend of Pittsburgh. The existence of Pittsburgh would not have been possible without contributions from PugHugJug, harvest901, bobbyjoe1235, tdsacco0122, lolitsdillonx, all our citizens, CYT friends, and most of all, builderbill1258.”

Player Warp: /pw LotusRecords by zzzambles
“Lotus Records was a mapart player warp on the Towny server that focuses on album art, aiming to capture the ambiance of a real-life record store. It began as a solo project to learn mapart and celebrate my love for the rock genre. Thanks to the help of my talented friend and builder, HowToBreadstick, it has become greater than I ever imagined. Starting over will be tough, but rest assured, we'll be back to keep rockin' with you all”

Town: Inari by Sovran_
“Formerly known as Entari, Inari was founded by Sovran_ and MurderOfCrows as a project to experiment with an Asian building style. It quickly grew to become one of the largest towns on the server, attracting many amazing residents and dedicated town staff members. Special thanks to RagnarokXblack, remroom, Bread_03, JPablo95, higuys313, Synx, and HowToBreadstick for all the memories along the way.”

Although we have said goodbye to V10 Towny, we look forward to seeing what the community creates next as we jump into V11. Accepted submissions will be highlighted here in our newsletter each month, featured at the spawn area on their respective server, and the owner of the location given an exclusive tag!
